Founded in 1988, the Club des ornithologues de Brome-Missisquoi Inc. (COBM) is a non-profit organization that brings together local people interested in ornithological activities.

COBM uses various means to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting winged fauna and works to protect its habitats.

To do this, COBM

  • organizes outings,
  • holds conferences,
  • participates in the Christmas Bird Count (CBC),
  • is involved in conservation projects such as the installation of nesting boxes and feeding stations and the development and monitoring of Eastern Bluebird trails,
  • periodically publishes its own bulletin, l’Info-Oiseaux, and
  • maintains a member’s discussion forum.

It welcomes both beginners and experienced bird lovers and invites all those interested in birds. COBM is a member of the Regroupement QuébecOiseaux (RQO), the umbrella organization for bird watching groups in Quebec.

In order to contribute to the advancement of ornithology, the members of COBM have collaborated on the Second Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Southern Quebec and have established the Parc naturel Jacques-Bonnette in Cowansville (named after the first president and co-founder of COBM). They also participate in the eBird databases.
